Help! Someone is selling my pattern

My fellow crafters, I have sadly found that someone is selling my tea time mug rug pattern on their site, and I am not sure how to proceed.

Take a look ....

Thank you to the kind person that alerted me to this, but I am not sure how to proceed.  I sent an email to the person "Dixie Champoux" who claims to run the site, asking her to remove my pattern from the site, but have not heard anything back.  Can you believe that someone would be so malicious?  Please support me, and other crafters who design patterns by boycotting this site!

Any advice would be welcome!

Hugs, Sara :)

  1. We had something similar happen to us a while ago.. not a pattern, but taking our content verbatim and making their own. Had to hire a lawyer (trademark infringement) and they sent a cease and desist letter. I think you can google and find one that you can write yourself and threaten legal action if they don't take it down + you will want any proceeds from them selling your items. People really have the nerve, you know. Fight for what is yours!! I hope you get to the bottom of this!

  2. Thank you Sarah!! I just posted about this too. I'm so thankful, another reader let me know this morning too! I sent an email on their "contact" page and said that was their Cease and Desist notice for violating my copyright and to immediately remove my pattern, images and files from their site. I also copied and pasted the copyright violation fine and prison term from the US copyright site!

  3. Hi Sara! So sorry to hear about this. Because this was a bit of a collaboration, it felt like a violation on me as well, and I just sent them a notice. My cousin is a lawyer, and has offered to help me if things like this come up, so we'll see! (I'd like to assume innocence, but...)

    1. Thank you so much Mollie! I think my cease and desist letter worked, but once I am done with school I think I am going to scour the internet to see if anyone else is violating our work ... really stings that people do that, you know?

  4. Someone on Instagram posted about her patterns being stolen and sold by the same person. It's sad and pathetic that someone would do that.

  5. Ya, SewHooked.com said her patterns were stolen, too. I seriously doubt a name like "Dixie Champoux" is real - it seems unlikely this hacker is in the U.S., either. I hope it gets sorted out soon!

  6. What a nightmare! And what nerve to sell what isn't theirs, I will boycott the site (never been there but will let them know) and pass That on to others!

  7. Considering this pattern was posted a number of years ago on your site and therefore has a date stamp, establishing ownership should be relatively easy. Also if you have it stored in a folder on your computer it should show when the file was created - again establishing ownership!
I really hope that this can be resolved quickly, this is so unfair.

  8. That is just awful! It looks like they've removed it from their site because I don't see it there now. I wonder about the other patterns on there. I hope this is the end of it for you. Really awful definitely won't buy from them.

  9. This is horrible. After doing a quick search of some of this cross stitch patterns on this site it appears they are stealing illustrations from numerous sites and turning them into crossstitch patterns for sale...easily done with software. One of them named Cats in Love on a Branch I found as an illustration on sale on Etsy. They aren't even changing the name of the illustration! Shameful.

  10. Hi Sara, I found that the web "Los Angeles needlework" has suspended the account. I think it's a good thing...they did a horrible thing.
