Spring-time Eggstravaganza: Egg Sampler.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.  I am back today with more spring-time fun for you. Today, I have an egg sampler embroidery pattern for you, that I actually started designing about a year and half ago.  Initially my thought was to come up with a sheet of different eggs, to embroider separately onto something like a towel.  So, some of the eggs are not perfectly spaced apart.  But, then, when I was transferring the pattern to my fabric I thought it would be fun to transfer all 9 at the same time to do  a sampler.  I have been working on the embroidery portion for a while, and for some reason I keep tearing out the stitches and starting over.  You ever have a project like that?  Here is my WIP so far:

Hopefully you will finish before me!  I am really enjoying this pattern though, and love my dolly egg in the middle the best so far.    I hope you enjoy this pattern too, you can find it  HERE

Hugs, Sara :)

  1. It's a toss-up for me...matroyska egg, or the half-finished popping out egg. Well done, Sara! Can't wait to stitch some of these!

  5. These are lovely - I may do them with a combination of appliqué and embroidery, and make lavender sachets out of them!

  8. I just started embroidering and a sampler like this is perfect for practicing different stitches. This is something that I could actually get done by Easter. Thanks so much!

  13. I love the matroshka one, too...and am now embroidering 4 of them on the corners of some light pink striped fabric to give to my sister...so she can use it to line her Easter basket!

  14. Thanks for the pattern! For the blue kerchief on the Russian doll one, are those back stitches, done in a brick style, in rows? It looks like a great fill...

  15. @ Marfa: that is such a great idea, I love that!!

@ lovetosew: yes, all I did was fill in her kerchief using a back stitch. I tried to stagger the stitches in a brick-like fashion, and then if there were any gaps just went and put a straight stitch in later. I used 4 ply to give it sort of a chunky look. I used the same technique for her hair too. :)
